The GDC recommends that all Dental Professionals keep up to date with essential elements of everyday practice. Updating your skills in the management of medical emergencies is vital to ensure you are competent to care for patients and to maintain your registration.

The FGDP (UK) is pleased to invite the whole dental team to an update in these areas.

You will receive 6 hours of verifiable CPD, 2 hours of which meet your core medical emergencies requirement.

Bacteria in Unit Water Lines can cause infection

With patients and surgery staff regularly exposed to water from aerosols used during treatment, failure to ensure that Dental Unit Water Lines (DUWL) are clean can cause contamination, risk spreading infection and may be a breach of Health and Safety Guidelines.

The Health and Safety Commission's requirements, as recorded in “The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems - Approved Code of Practice and Guidance” states that all Dentists must identify and assess sources of risk and implement a scheme for preventing and controlling that risk.
